The new Kaometry release is by Enkephalin, a young talented producer coming from the core of old Europe, from Brussels, Belgium. It is a brief but intense EP, 5 tracks about 19’ listening.
Synthetic bass music, dry, powerful and extra-cut.
A surprising balance between mechanical beats and dubby grooves recalling wide panoramas with a lonely mood and coal mining operations where each repetition is slightly mutating and constantly evolving. The briefness of this release (and of each track indeed) is quite relevant to define this balance: Enkephalin’s (de)constructions are not easy to describe though they’re not centered on weirdness neither are baroque in their inventive. They’re razor-sharp, always finely produced and arranged, a perfect condensed dose of ideas on sounds, rhythm and climax.
Touches of gentleness from the electronica world, echoes of the 90’s -like Black Dog trapped in a dubstep zone, simple melodies sometimes evoking an undefinable middle-eastern taste, everything pressurized and squeezed under tension by cutting-edge pneumatic sounds and complex beating.
